Robert Worthington

Robert E. Worthington, 62, of Sweet Home died after a battle with cancer on July 27, 2008.

He was born on Aug. 31, 1945 the son of Martha (Charbonneau) Worthington and the late Robert C. Worthington in East Longmeadow, Mass..

He was a Marine and served in Vietnam. He was a police officer for 10 years in Wilbraham, Mass., prior to moving to Sweet Home and joining the police force there. He was also the owner of Worthington Trucking.

He enjoyed bareback bronco riding, rodeos, hunting and fishing.

He is survived by his mother of East Longmeadow; wife, Kitty Worthington; daughters, Marie Miley and husband, David, of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Dorothy Hentschel and husband, Thomas, of Discovery Bay, Calif.; son, Robert E. Worthington of San Jose, Calif.; stepdaughter, Tami Copeland and husband, Skip, of Tolland, Conn.; stepsons, Daniel King and wife, Lisa, of Palmer, Mass., and David King of Summit; nine grandchildren; brothers, Richard Worthington of Monson, Mass., and Gerald Worthington of Springfield, Mass.; sisters, Phyllis Okamura and husband, Casey, of Holyoke, Mass., Janice Chicoine and husband, Michael of Springfield, Mass., and Mary Bready of Warren, Mass.; and several nieces and nephews.

At his request, there will be no services.

Sweet Home Funeral Chapel is handling the arrangements.
