Rock concert in park, poker run up next for Sweet Home

Sean C. Morgan

The country music is done, and

now it’s time for a little local rock

’n’ roll and motorcycle fun.

Psychostock Three starts at 10

a.m. Saturday at Sankey Park. It

features eight bands, who will wrap

things up at 8 p.m.

Sweet Home Choppers also has

its 90-mile Fifth Annual Motorcycle

Poker Run scheduled for 10 a.m.

Saturday. The poker run will bene

it

Sunshine Industries, which is raising

money to construct a new facility on

Clark Mill Road.

Bands performing at Psychos-

tock include The Berated, Caducus,

Crimson Guardian, Laser Light

Shotgun, Brudos, Funkle Ted, To-

dayisNow and Brallix.

Brudos and Brallix are new to

the event.

Brudos has been playing shows

with Cadacus and The Berated,

most of whose members are from

Sweet Home. Brudos recently re-

corded a CD in Sweet Home with

John Pelcher of The Berated and

Caducus.

Laser Light Show and Funkle

Ted share a bass player, Chad Miner,

formerly of Sweet Home. All four

members of Christian act Todayis-

Now are from Sweet Home.

“That’s the thing,” said Psycho-

stock volunteer Andrea Culy. “That’s

the whole purpose – to give bands

like these a chance to play in Sweet

Home. These are our kids too.

“Some people are not country

music fans. It gives them something

different and edgier, and it’s not all

metal.”

Admission to the festival is

free, Culy said, and vendors can

set up for free. They just need to

bring their own tables. Concertgoers

should bring a picnic lunch.

This year, Psychostock organiz-

ers, for the

first time, have gathered

15 local sponsors to help pay for

full-sized posters, she said, and she

wanted to extend their appreciation

to the sponsors.

“It doesn’t cost anything to do

this event,” Culy said. The sponsors

are simply helping get the word out.

Jobe Woosley and Jeff Faulcon-

er, guitar players with Caducus, are

planning to participate in the poker

run, Culy said, then they’ll head to

Sankey Park to perform.

The poker run starts off at Sweet

Home Choppers, 4639 Hwy. 20 and

then runs through Gridiron Sports

Bar in Harrrisburg, Dixie Creek

Saloon in Tangent, the Brownsville

Saloon and a mystery stop.

The low hand wins $100. The

high hand wins $200.

Participants can win raf

fle priz-

es, including a 50-50 drawing. There

will be a barbecue at the last stop.

All motorcycles are welcome.
