Rodney (Rod) Henderson, 64, of Sweet Home, died Monday June 13, at Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center.
He was born Nov. 13, 1946 in Lebanon to Harley and Myrtle Henderson (Haney).
He was raised in Brownsville and graduated from Central Linn High School in 1964.
Mr. Henderson married Gina Grant in July 1974 in Springfield. They later separated, in 1993.
In his farming career he worked for Gene Fisher, Peter Jensen and Wes Staley. He retired on Dec. 31, 2010, so he could spend more time with his grandchildren, going to rodeos and car races.
Mr. Henderson loved to attend rodeos, his grandchildren’s games, go for drives, camping, and watching western movies. He enjoyed riding his four-wheeler wherever he felt he could. If he wasn’t doing that he would read any newspaper that was in front of him.
Mr. Henderson is survived by his children, daughter Cascindra Henderson and her fiance Logan Fetters of Creswell, and son Matthew and daughter-in-law Suzanne Henderson of Springfield; sister Cindy and brother-in-law Joe Reynolds of Brownsville, sister Cathy Ader and brother-in-law Dave of Brownsville, brother Stuart Henderson of Albany, sister Krystal Henderson and her partner Nancy Aguirre of Tucson, Ariz., and brother Scott Henderson of Brownsville; five grandchildren; and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Gary Henderson in 1993; father Harley Henderson in 1999 and mother Myrtle Haney in 2010.
A funeral service is planned at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 25, at Sweet Home Funeral Chapel, with final burial at Liberty Cemetery following the service.
