Rollie Dexter Friederick, 77, of Sweet Home died Feb. 8, 2015.
He was born April 21, 1937 in Rawlins, Wyo. to Edward and Josephine (Washbunn) Friederick. He was born in the car while his family was moving west to Oregon.
They settled in the Portland area. He joined and served in the United States Coast Guard as a young man.
Mr. Friederick married Wilma in April 1973 and they lived in Bridge, where he was once the mayor. He and his wife owned a bar in Bridge where he bartended. They moved to Sweet Home in 1994 and he worked in the timber industry and later for an excavation company.
Mrs. Friederick died in 2001.
Mr. Friederick enjoyed fishing and crabbing on the Oregon Coast. He loved spending time with his family, grand nieces and nephews.
He is is survived by nieces Susan Bauman and Sandra Frederick both of Milwaukie; nephews Dennis Frederick of Cottage Grove and Curtis Frederick of Milwaukie; brothers Glenn and sister-in-law Joanne Frederick of Milwaukie, and Leroy Friederick of Beaverton; foster brother Fred and sister-in-law Mary Blatch of Salem; four great nieces; three great nephews; one great-great niece; and two great-great nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Wilma Friederick; and his parents.
