Ronald Fogle

July 16, 1921 – May 30, 2012

Ronald Dewey Fogle, 90, of Sweet Home died May 30, 2012. He was born July 16, 1921 in Crawfordsville to Admiral Dewey and Cora Mae (Taplin) Fogle.

He graduated from Sweet Home Union High School in 1939. He served in the U.S. Army for three years, in England during World War II.

Mr. Fogle was a barber for about 10 years, then worked at the Post Office for two years. He was assistant chief fire marshal for the City of Sweet Home for 24 years. He has also volunteered at the fire department for 40 years.

He taught Red Cross first aid for many years and received a certificate for teaching more than 500 hours.

Mr. Fogle was a member of the Elks Lodge for more than 60 years, serving as exalted ruler of the Sweet Home Lodge from 1968 to 1969.

He enjoyed gardening and hunting. He also did needlework and made 20 afghans for his grandchildren.

Mr. Fogle is survived by his daughters, Sandra Green of Sweet Home, Dianna Gardner of Washington, Karen Fisher of Lebanon, and Debra McKinney of Lebanon.

He was preceded in death by two wives, Martha Fogle and Opal Fogle.

The family appreciates all the work Dan Canavan gave as his caregiver during the last few months.

Memorial services are pending at a future date. Sweet Home Funeral Chapel is handling the arrangements.
