Ronald “Ron” Gene Pickle, 52, of Mesick, Mich., died at Munson Medical Center on Aug. 11, 2008.
He was born at home on June 2, 1956 in Sweet Home to R.L. and Ursula Pickle.
He was born and raised in Sweet Home, where he attended high school.
On Aug. 8, 1979, he married Laura “Sue” Decker after they met during their service in the U.S. Army.
From a young age, he had a passion for music. He was able to sit and play the piano, but his true love was the guitar and southern rock music. He expressed his talent without ever learning to read music, by playing by ear.
Recently he made his living with Ward Eaton Towing and settled into his home with his wife in Mesick.
He enjoyed being by the grill, taking in time with friends over a barbecue or feasting on fried chicken. He loved spending time with his family, children and grandchildren.
Mr. Pickle is survived by his wife, Sue Pickle; sons, Rodney and Arron; daughter, Brandy; father, R.L. Pickle; two older brothers, Stephen and R.L. Pickle Jr.; sisters, Joann Serdy and Sheila Schmoltz; father- and mother-in-law, Albert and Brenda Decker; five grandchildren; aunts; uncles; nieces; nephews; and other family members and friend.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Ursula, in April 1999.
A memorial celebration of his life was held on Aug. 23 at the family home in Mesick.
