Rotary poker raises nearly $2,000

The New Era

The Sweet Home Rotary Club raised approximately $1,700 for college scholarships and its Dolly Parton Imagination Library project in a Texas Hold ’Em Poker Tournament Nov. 11.

The Dolly Parton Imagination Library is an early literacy program for 1- to 5-year-olds. Forty people participated in the event, held at the home of Phil and Wendy Pollock.

The event included four turkeys, donated by Thriftway and Safeway, given away as prizes to the top finalists. Joel and Blake Keesecker from Unified Insurance provided and cooked the dinners – ribs, baked beans, potato salad, rolls and deserts.
