Sweet Home softball lost three league games last week, falling to Stayton 13-2 on Wednesday, Newport 10-5 on Thursday, and Cascade 19-0 on Saturday.
In the first game, the Eagles (11-3, No. 1) outhit the Huskies 12-6, and committed just two errors to Sweet Home’s five.
Makayla Guthrie pitched all five innings for the Huskies, striking out one and walking six. Brooke Burke led the team with three hits, while Natalie Smith had the team’s only RBI.
Against Newport (7-6), Sweet Home had eight hits while Newport had 11. The Cubs did not commit a single error, but Sweet Home had seven.
Guthrie pitched for five innings, allowing five earned runs on 11 hits while striking out five and walking three. Jocelyn Fairchild pitched one inning, giving up no runs or hits while walking one.
Kelsie Rush had a triple and a single and had two RBIs. Adi Graber also had two hits and an RBI.
In the weekend game, Cascade (6-3) had 20 hits while Sweet Home managed just one, a single by Burke. Each team committed one error.
Guthrie pitched four innings, allowing eight earned runs on 10 hits while striking out two and walking one. Fairchild pitched two innings, allowing 10 earned runs on 10 hits, including a homerun, while walking one.
This week the Huskies (1-8) host Philomath (3-10) at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 19, before taking the road to Cascade for a 4:30 p.m. game on Thursday, April 20. They then travel to Stayton for a 4 p.m. game on Monday, April 24.
