Roy Steinborn

Roy Alvin Steinborn, 83, of Sweet Home passed away Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2026. He was born on June 13, 1942 to Thelma Ada (Flock) and Augusta “Butch” Charles Steinborn.
Roy grew up in Oakridge, Eugene and Lowell. He graduated from Lowell High School, then joined the U.S. Army and Reserves from November 23, 1962 through Oct. 31, 1968. After an honorable discharge from the Army, Roy worked for Pan Am Airlines in San Francisco. Roy and Irene made a home in Pacifica, Calif., where they raised children and grandchildren.
In 1993, Roy left Pan Am Airlines and they moved to Sweet Home.
Roy enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing, archery, cooking, growing and preserving food, reading and music.
Roy is survived by children, Larry Brown (Maggi), Linda (Brown) Vella, Karen Brown and Sheila Steinborn; brothers Carl Long (Joyce) of Sweet Home, Bill Steinborn (Judy) of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, and Bob Steinborn (Shirley) of Tacoma, Wash.; sister, Kathie Pomrankey (Doug) of Sandpoint, Idaho; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nephews and nieces, and great-nephews and nieces.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Irene (Beall) Brown Steinborn; his parents; and siblings Gary, John, Mary and David Steinborn.
Celebration of Life with military honors will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 4, at Sweet Home Community Center.
Roy and Irene will be interred at Roseburg National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Roy preferred donations to Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation.
