Ruth M. Wiley

Ruth M. Wiley, formerly of Sweet Home, passed away May 14, 2015 at her home near Osceola, Mo.

She was born Jan. 27, 1920 to Hobert and Vertie Brooks in Bigelow, Ark.

She lived in Alichi, Okla., and then moved to Wright City, Okla. in 1924, where she attended school and later graduated from high school in May of 1937.

On Dec. 15, 1938, she married Lester Wiley and to this union were born two children, Betty J. and Cecil R.

In the early ’50s, Ruth moved to Sweet Home and worked in supermarkets for many years. She moved back to Oklahoma to care for her mother and also worked for Weyerhaeuser there, later moving back to Sweet Home, until the death of her husband. She moved to Missouri after this to be near her daughter and, eventually, her son.

Ruth loved to sew and embroider. She enjoyed the challenge of putting together any kind of puzzle and sending people cards for all occasions. She loved reading a good western and her Bible.

She is survived by her children, Betty James and Cecil Wiley, both of Osceola; one granddaughter, Sherry James of Sweet Home; four grandsons, Larry James of Sweet Home, Travis James, Wes Wiley and Ray Wiley, all of Missouri; one great-grandson; three great-granddaughters; two great-great-grandsons; one sister and other relatives and many friends.

She was laid to rest at the Osceola Cemetery in Osceola, Mo.
