S.A.F.E. fund-raisers planned; volunteers needed for party

Parents of Sweet Home High School seniors will hold a Texas Hold ’Em Tournament at 6 p.m. Saturday, April 2, at 28442 Liberty Road.

A $100 buy-in gives players a chance to win big prizes.

The Texas Hold ’Em event is one of a number planned as S.A.F.E. fund-raisers. Others include a Ham Bingo game that will be held together with the SHHS Forestry Club and S.A.F.E. are sharing the proceeds of a Ham Bingo game on April 16. The game will be held at 6pm at the Sweet Home High School Cafeteria.

A community-wide Bunko party is also being planned for a date yet to be determined in May.

S.A.F.E. parent volunteers are also decorating and serving dessert at the Prom on April 23, which will be held at the Alumni Center in Corvallis.

The purpose of the S.A.F.E. party is to celebrate the graduates’ success, but also to provide a safe, alcohol-free alternative to traditional graduation parties. Sections of the high school will be transformed to give the students a truly unique experience.

Many games, activities, entertainment and chances to win prizes will go on throughout the S.A.F.E. celebration. This annual party has been going on for 27 years and has been anticipated and extremely well-attended by graduates.

The Sweet Home community largely supports the efforts of the S.A.F.E. party and without the generous businesses and wonderful individuals and parents in Sweet Home and neighboring communities it wouldn’t be possible.
