Sweet Home poet Jim Crotts will open the annual LBCC Valley Writer’s Series May 4.
An outdoors man, Crotts will offer some of the poems he has written as he traverses the mountains, rivers and streams of the Pacific Northwest.
The reading will be from 1-2:20 p.m. in Room T-205 of Takena Hall.
Crotts began at LBCC as a student, progressed to a part-time computer teaching position, to a full-time spot running the learning resource center lab and helping manage the college’s internet system.
He lives in Sweet Home with his wife, Janis, a teacher at Sweet Home High School.
Some of Crotts’ work has been published in the college’s annual arts magazine, the Eloquent Umbrella.
Other features of the annual series will include fiction writer Chris Anderson, Thursday, May 20, 9:30-10:50 a.m., Learning Resource Center, room LRC-210 and an opening of the Eloquent Umbrella and open reading on Saturday, May 22 at 7 p.m. at Boccherini’s Coffee and Tea House, 208 1st Ave. SW, in Albany.
