A Salem veterinarian died in Sweet Home on Friday, April 8, when a tractor flipped on top of him.
Police and medics responded to the call at 2:07 p.m. Friday to 707 Mountain View Road. The victim, Lyle Scott, 71, of Salem died prior to the arrival of emergency responders.
“The victim was pulling a tree stump in his (relative’s) backyard with a farm tractor,” said Jason Ogden, sergeant with the Sweet Home Police Department. “They had a chain from the tractor to the tree stump.”
As Scott began to pull on the stump with the tractor, it caused the tractor to flip over onto him, Ogden said.
His body was taken to Sweet Home Funeral Chapel.
