Samaritan Lebanon Community Hospital distributed more than $100,000 in Social Accountability Budget grants on July 10.
The recipients are selected by a committee and are meant to support programs that address the unmet needs of under-served populations and work to improve the health of the community, according to Samaritan’s website.
Local organizations that Samaritan has identified as candidates to apply for Social Accountability Budget grant funding are invited each year to submit applications.
The 2017 grant recipients include:
– ABC House received $10,000 for a medical director position to conduct child abuse assessments and forensic examinations on children in the area.
– The Boys & Girls Club of Lebanon received $15,000 to fund Wednesday Clubs, after-school educational support programs.
– Family Tree Relief Nursery received $5,000 to support the early childhood therapeutic preschool program.
– Fish of Lebanon received $10,000 to help local households with access to healthy food, identification paperwork, basic hygiene items and eye wear, dentures and hearing aids.
– Jackson Street Youth Services received $5,000 to support groups, Girls Circle and Boys Council for Lebanon youth.
– Lebanon Basic Services at the River Center received $10,000 to provide funds for utilities and rental emergency assistance.
n Pregnancy Alternatives Center received $3,000 for supplies for the Healthy Moms Safe Babies Program.
– The Retired Senior Volunteer Program received $2,500 to support the Foster Grandparent Program of the RSVP program.
– Senior Meals/Meals on Wheels received $15,000 to purchase meals for seniors and people with disabilities in East Linn County (Lebanon, Lacomb, Crabtree, Scio, and surrounding rural areas).
– St. Vincent de Paul of Lebanon received $10,000 for the St. Vincent de Paul food pantry, which supplies emergency food to low-income adults and children.
– Sweet Home Emergency Ministries received $10,000 for the “Just Add Milk” program for food boxes and the Manna Kitchen.
– Sweet Home Pregnancy Care Center received $6,200 for car seats, strollers and vitamins for the Baby Safety Project.
