Alex Santana was named the Husky boys soccer team’s Most Valuable Player Thursday night.
Isaiah Blake received the Coach’s Award, and Eric Munts received the Hustle Award, decided by his teammates.
Matt Grove and Santana also received second-team all-league honors while Mitchell Grove and Blake Roberts received all-league honorable mention.
Receiving their first-year letters in soccer were Blake, Chad Linville, Robert Rubidoux, Dakota Snow, Kyle Winslow and David Worthen.
Second-year letters went to Munts, Blake Roberts, Santana and John Trahan.
Receiving third-year letters were Brock Crocker, Matthew Grove, Andrew Winslow and Mitchell Grove.
Senior Chris Farris received his fourth letter in soccer.
The team won one game in non-league play this year.
“We were a young team, and it showed,” Coach Al Grove said. With only three seniors departing the team and up to 26 players returning, “if we do the work, coming back, we should show improvement.”
The team did all right considering that along with its youth, it was playing tough teams, three of which went to playoffs and were fairly competitive there, he said.
Santana showed maturity on the field, Grove said, and his play improved all season long, while Blake willingly played different positions wherever he was needed and Munts gave everything his best on the field.
