Rock jumper injured in Cascadia

Medics and Sheriff’s personnel remove a young man who fell at the Big Rock pool on the South Santiam River, east of Cascadia Park in the 48600 block Hwy. 20. Due to the fact that the man was injured and transported by medics to Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center for evaluation, the Linn County Sheriff’s Office declined to release his name due to HIPAA privacy restrictions. According to the victim’s acquaintances at the scene and Sheriff’s officials, he  jumped from a high ledge and fell short of the water, hitting land. Acquaintances were unable to provide a spelling for his name, but said he was from Corvallis.

Inscription of Thanks

An addition to the loggers icon situated outside the museum gives homage to those who helped make the artistic piece a possibility. Robin Miller, one of the leads who installed the wood carving of loggers on a unique wood trunk, stenciled on a circular sawmill blade the names of everyone who contributed to the project. The blade now sits near the base of the statue.
