Fish Art Installation on Main Street
Above, Brian Womack of the Sweet Home Public Works Department digs a hole in the Main Street Median in preparation for installing a metal fish, left, one of 60 created by Sweet Home High School metal shop students in December to decorate the median.
At left, Craig Still of the Public Work Department adjusts the position of a fish.
The display will include 60 fish that students cut out of one-eighth-inch metal and welded onto rebar for installation along Main Street. Half the fish, which represent a variety of species, face one way and the other half, mounted on the other side of the median, face the other, Womack said. City employees used buckets to cast a cement base for each fish. They were installed on Feb. 12.
