New Sweet Home School Board member Erin Barstad was arrested late Tuesday night, Aug. 5, after Sweet Home police responded to a report of domestic conflict in the 700 block of 29th Ave.
According to Sweet Home police, officers responded at 11:54 p.m. to a call from Daniel Conn, stating that he wanted a woman removed from the home.
According to police, a female, whom investigators determined was Barstad, took the phone and told a Sweet Home police dispatcher to disregard the call.
Barstad, 45, was arrested on charges of fourth-degree assault-domestic and interference with making a report, which in Oregon generally means that a subject is intentionally preventing or hindering another person from making a report by phone or similar communication equipment to a law enforcement agency, a Class A misdemeanor.
Police Chief Jason Ogden said Conn had a facial injury and “based on the evidence, (officers) had probable cause to make an arrest.”
Barstad was lodged in Linn County Jail.
She was elected in May to the Zone 8 (at-large) seat, and was sworn in on July 14.
