School District 55 received 23 complete applications for superintendent.
The district is seeking a successor to Supt. Bill Hampton who will retire on June 30.
The application process closed on Dec. 28.
Right now, 20 persons, including each member of the School Board, district staff and community members, are screening the applications. Screening started Monday last week.
The board is hoping to complete its screening of applicants by the end of January, Supt. Hampton said.
