For The New Era

Saturday, 86 Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, and adult volunteers met at Sankey Park and then canvassed Sweet Home for non-perishable goods to stock the shelves at SHEM (our community food-bank).

This years’ Scouting for Food event brought in 2,500 pounds of food, which is a 381pound increase over last year.

Cub Scout Packs participating this year included 362, 363, 367, and 395.

Boy Scout Troops helping this year included 362, 372, and 395.

Over the past four months, SHEM has experienced drastic increases in the number of people served each month and expects the trend to continue through the winter months, so the donations were gladly received.

All of the food collected will be distributed to someone in need in our community.
