As of Monday morning, search and rescue teams continued to search for a missing hiker in the Marion Lake area off Highway 22 in northeast Linn County.
The Linn County Sheriff’s Office received a call at 1:40 p.m. on June 24 that Sanford David Rice had gone on a day hike in the area and did not return home, according to a news release.
Rice, 75, is from Blachly.
“He is an experienced hiker,” said LCSO Undersheriff Jim Yon. “He’s in really good physical condition with no known medical issues.”
When deputies went to the Marion Lake Trailhead to look for him, they found his vehicle and entry receipts that indicated he was doing a day hike.
Though deputies spoke with several hikers in the area, only one couple recalled seeing Rice on Thursday, Yon said.
A Hasty Team searched the area all night on Friday and Saturday morning, six members from the Linn County Mounted Posse began their search.
Linn County Search and Rescue has 12 members searching the area on foot, according to the release.
Oregon Civil Air Patrol conducted and air search on Saturday morning.
SAR groups from around the region are helping with the search.
