Oregon Sen. Jeff Merkley will hold a town hall in Sweet Home at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 8, at the Sweet Home High School cafeteria.
Merkley will update constituents on his work in Washington, D.C. and answer questions and invite suggestions about how to tackle the challenges facing Oregon and America.
“Talking directly to Oregonians in every county is a great way to hear about the issues folks want me to fight for in Washington,” said Merkley. “I urge all residents of Linn, Lane and Douglas Counties to come and share their opinions and work with me to make our state and nation a stronger place.”
In 2008, Merkley pledged to hold town halls in each of Oregon’s 36 counties every year. He upheld his pledge in the previous four years and is continuing that commitment in 2013. This is his first town hall in Sweet Home.
Due to Congress’s grappling with the “fiscal cliff” issue last week, notice of the town hall wasn’t finalized until after The New Era went to press with its Jan. 2 issue.
