Seven named to SHHS Husky Hall of Fame

Sweet Home High School inducted seven athletes into its Hall of Fame at last week?s senior athletics awards banquet.

Inductees included Lisa Brocard, Donny Cliver, Tyler Emmert, Seth Graves, Sean Martin, Ricky Howe and Tim Matuszak.

Brocard

Brocard finished school with a 3.89 GPA.

She was volleyball MVP and team captain her senior year. She was first-team all-league her junior and senior years.

In track, she was MVP her junior and senior years. She was captain, Gatorade player of the year and third-team all-league her junior year. She placed first at district in the long jump and triple jump her senior year. She received the coach?s award her freshman and sophomore years. She set a school record for triple jump at 35?08?.

Cliver

Cliver earned a 3.25 GPA.

He was MVP in football his junior and senior years. He was first-team all-league punter and kicker his junior and senior years. He was third-team all-state punter his junior year. His senior year, he first-team all-league quarterback and first-team all-state quarterback and kicker.

He received all-league honorable mention in baseball his junior year.

He also participated in basketball, wrestling and track.

Emmert

Emmert finished with a 3.36 GPA.

In football, Emmert was first-team all-league linebacker his junior and senior years. He was first-team all-league and all-state tight end his senior year. He was outstanding lineman his junior year.

In basketball, he was most inspirational his junior year. His senior year, he received the sportsmanship award, defensive player of the year and third-team all-league post.

In baseball, he was in the 100 club his junior year.

Graves

Graves earned a 3.81 GPA.

He was best back, Capital Conference offensive player of the year and first-team all-league running back his junior and senior year. He was second-team all-state running back his senior year.

He was first at district in track with the 4×1 team his junior year. He earned the coach?s award his senior year.

Graves also played basketball.

Martin

Martin finished with a 3.81 GPA.

In swimming, he was outstanding underclassman his freshman and sophomore year and outstanding upperclassman his junior and senior year. He was team captain all four years of high school. He placed second at state in the 500 free his sophomore through senior year and was on the first-place 400 free relay team his sophomore year.

In water polo, he earned the hustle award his freshman year and was team captain. He was outstanding defender his freshman and sophomore years and on second-team all-league his senior year.

Howe

Howe earned a 3.08 GPA.

He was football MVP his senior year. He also was first-team all-league receiver and first-team all-league safety his senior year. His junior year, he was second-team all-league safety and third-team all-league receiver his junior year. He was Capital Conference player of the year his senior year.

In basketball, he received the sixth-man award his freshman year and was second-team all-league his senior year.

His senior year in track, he was first at district in triple jump, second in district in the 400 and the newcomer award winner.

He also played golf.

Matuszak

Matuszak had a 3.29 GPA.

In football, Matuszak was third-team all-league defensive back and all-league honorable mention kick returner his sophomore year. He was best defensive player his junior and senior year. He was Capital Conference defensive player of the year, first-team all-league defensive back and first-team all-league kick/punt returner his junior and sophomore years. He was second-team all-league wide receiver and third-team all-state defensive back his junior year. He was co-MVP his senior year. He tied the school interception record his junior and senior year. He set a school record for career interceptions with 18.

In basketball, he was MVP his junior and senior year. His sophomore year, he was most improved. His junior year, he was defensive player of the year and second-team all-league. His senior year, he was first-team all-league.

In baseball, he was first-team all-league infield his senior year.

Additional awards:

– Ashley Horn and Rob Martin received the U.S. Marine Corps Distinguished Athlete award.

– John Lovik and Megan Snow were the U.S. Army Scholar Athletes.

– Mike Severns received the Greg Hagle Memorial Scholarship.

– Tomas Rosa received the Sweet Home Alumni Foundation Norm Davis Memorial Scholarship.

– Anne Helfrich and Tomas Rosa received this year?s Moe Awards.

– Anthony Mink and Rachel Gaskey received the Larry Johnson Sportsmanship Award.

– Lisa Brocard and Tim Matuszak were the Booster Club Boy and Girl of the Year.
