The Sweet Home Junior High seventh-grade A team won all but two of its games this year, finishing with a 9-2 record.
“Serving consistency and playing tenacity were the A team’s keys to success,” said Coach Heide Nichol.
The B team also won “a good number of games,” Nichol said, finishing 4-7, also because of “good serving and positive attitudes.”
“I was very proud of how both teams developed,” she said. “They worked hard, supported each other and enjoyed playing the game.”
Nichol credited volunteer assistant Shavonne Schumacher for helping the teams develop.
“Her presence made it possible to keep everyone involved in a drill and limited the amount of spectating,” she said.
