JASON SARTER goes up for a bucket against Junction City ..

“We did fairly well,” said Coach Tim Porter. “Anytime you get a win on the road, it’s good. I thought we played pretty well.”

The Huskies’ lead fluctuated between four and 10 most of the game.

Junction City led 12-11 after the first quarter, but a five-point second quarter put them behind the Huskies 24-17 at halftime. The Huskies led 39-32 at the end of the third.

“I was pleased with our defensive effort,” Porter said. “We didn’t shoot particularly well, which can happen at times.”

This time, the Huskies got the stops they needed to stay ahead, he said. If the team isn’t scoring well, “you’ve got to make sure your defense is carrying you.

“We did a much better job in the second quarter not allowing dribble penetration, forcing them to take outside shots.”
