SH cops to take a dive for Special Olympics

On Feb. 9, several Sweet Home police officers, a Public Works employee and family and friends will join hundreds taking a plunge into the freezing Willamette River to raise money for the athletes of Special Olympics Oregon.

The event is sponsored by the Oregon Law Enforcement Torch Run.

Donations support year-round sports training, equipment and athletic competitions in a variety of Olympics-style sports for children and adults with disabilities.

Through sports, the athletes of Special Olympics Oregon develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills, and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes and the community.

Donations may be made online or by check payable to Special Olympics Oregon. Cash may be donated at the Sweet Home Police Department.
