SH Health, Safety fairs to combine

The 10th Annual Jim Bean Memorial Safety and Crime Prevention Fair and Sweet Home Community Health Fair will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 19, at the Sweet Home High School Activity Gym.

The health fair will feature blood pressure checks, skin caner check and dental check as well as exercise classes, information on nutrition and wellness.

The City of Sweet Home Employee Wellness Committee will host a 3.5 mile Eclipse Run/Walk at 10 a.m. leaving from and returning to Sankey Park near the high school. Registration for the event is available at Sweet Home City Hall and on the website http://www.2017solareclipserun.weebly.com.

The Sweet Home Health Center will be registering student athletes for sports physicals at the clinic to be held later in August.

The Boys and Girls Club of the Greater Santiam will offer activities for kids.

Also, information about the Oregon Health Plan and other insurance options will be available.

Cost is free including hotdogs and soda.

The Public Safety portion will include REACH Medical Service helicopter tours, free helmets to the first 100 participants and free bicycle licensing to anyone bringing their bicycle. Children’s ID kits will be available including fingerprinting. Emergency Services vehicles from City, County, and State police including K9 dogs, fire and ambulance will be available to tour and ask questions and more.
