A 77-year-old Sweet Home man was arrested last week for allegedly attempting to murder a 99-year-old Lebanon woman.
At approximately 11:28 a.m. on July 23, Lebanon police officers responded to a Lebanon residence where they learned a 99-year-old woman had allegedly just been assaulted by an adult male identified as Willis Willard Porter, according to Lebanon detectives. He was known to the victim.
Porter arrived at the victim’s residence at approximately 11 a.m., according to witnesses, police officials said. The victim stated that, after a brief conversation with Porter inside her residence, he knocked her to the floor, assaulted her and tried to suffocate her.
The victim was voluntarily taken to the hospital, where she was treated and released with minor physical injuries, police said.
At approximately 3:30 p.m., Lebanon detectives arrested Porter at his residence on Ridgeway Road in Sweet Home without incident. He was charged with attempted murder, strangulation and fourth-degree assault.
Porter was transported and held at Linn County Jail pending arraignment.
