Sweet Home police arrested a Sweet Home man during the morning of Nov. 16 after a traffic stop on Main Street.
According to a statement, when officers stopped a 1997 Nissan Quest van, the occupants attempted to “quickly walk away.”
The driver was identified as Keith Allen Smith, 51. His passenger was eventually identified as Breanna Marie Mansell, 22, also of Sweet Home.
During the course of the traffic stop, officers learned that Smith had an outstanding warrant for his arrest out of the Linn County Justice Court for failure to appear on a criminal citation. He is also a corrections offender on post-prison supervision for assaulting a police officer, according to the statement.
Smith was taken into custody on the outstanding warrant. Mansell was released at the scene.
Police then executed a search warrant on the vehicle and seized “a dealer amount of methamphetamine, scales, packaging material, heroin, as well as drug paraphernalia,” according to the statement.
Smith was charged with distribution of a controlled substance-methamphetamine, possession of a controlled substance-methamphetamine, and PCS-heroin. The Linn County Probation and Parole Department placed a detainer on him for violating parole and he was lodged at the Linn County Jail.
A narcotics investigation was open and ongoing by the Sweet Home Police Department due to reported drug sales by Smith, according to the statement.
Anyone with information related to the incident is asked to contact SHPD Detective Cyndi Pichardo at (541) 367-5181.
