SH man found guilty of murder in death of man found in pond

A Linn County jury On May 6 found Donald A. Matzke guilty of murdering Tim Miller.

Following an eight-day trial, the jury found Matzke guilty on all charges associated with the case, including murder, second-degree theft, second-degree abuse of a corpse and tampering with physical evidence.

Matzke is scheduled for sentencing at 8:30 a.m. on May 20.

Miller had been found floating face down in a pond at 25491 Crescent Hill Road, a 92-acre property known as Rockin’ Red Ranch, about seven miles southeast of Sweet Home.

Miller’s son, Jason Miller, had reported his father missing on May 6, 2014. Police located the body the following day.

Matzke stabbed Miller several times following an argument, and he tried to conceal the body in the pond and took money from Miller’s body after the death.
