The Sweet Home water polo squad beat Woodburn 11-1 Friday in the Huskies’ final home appearance of the season.
Though the team already had secured a berth in the state tournament, which begins against Parkrose Saturday, Nov. 6, at the South Albany aquatic center.
The game against Woodburn started with a scoreless first quarter, after which the Huskies ripped off four unanswered goals in four minutes to take the lead. Woodburn scored its only goal early in the third period, while Sweet Home held on defense and kept its scoring pace going in the final periods.
Derek Jaques, Sami Webb, Jake Johnson and Cory Martin all scored for the Huskies.
Sweet Home will face West and South Salem in a non-league match-up Tuesday, Nov. 2, before moving on to the state tournament.
