SH woman arrested for attempted murder

Sweet Home police arrested Sara Bejar-Suarez, 31, for attempted murder after she allegedly shot at her ex-boyfriend.

Police responded to a report of shots fired at 1810 Yucca St. at 2:45 p.m. on May 28.

When they arrived, they located 44-year-old Corey Valentine unharmed but shaken by the incident, said Police Chief Jeff Lynn. “He reported his ex-girlfriend had confronted him at the location and fired one single shot at him using a semi-automatic pistol.”

Police officers and detectives interviewed several witnesses and learned that Bejar-Suarez had been looking for the victim earlier in the day, Lynn said. They learned that the incident was likely related to an ongoing child custody dispute between the two.

Police located Bejar-Suarez hiding under a bed in a residence about a block and a half away, Lynn said, where she had gone inside apparently without permission.

Bejar-Suarez was charged with attempted murder, unlawful use of a firearm, menacing and two counts of first-degree criminal trespass. She was lodged at Linn County Jail.

The investigation remains open, and anyone with information related to the incident is asked to contact Det. Cyndi Pichardo at the Sweet Home Police Department at (541) 367-5181.
