SHAF honors Mona Waibel

Mona Hyer Waibel was honored recently for her charter membership in Sweet Home Alumni Foundation (SHAF) and elevated to board member emeritus. The Emeritus Board will consist of non-voting members who have made outstanding long time contributions to SHAF. Twenty-five years ago in 1990, Waibel, along with Jim Riggs, Keith Gabriel, Marge Cardwell Kikel and Lucretia Kitchin Seiber founded SHAF, whose mission is to raise money for scholarships to graduating seniors at Sweet Home High School. The group incorporated as a tax-exempt, non-profit in 1992 and has since awarded over $400,000 to graduates at the high school including $43,000 to the Class of 2015. Several years ago she established an endowed Mona Waibel Scholarship Fund. She became the first to receive the honor of Sweet Home Alumni Foundation Board Member Emeritus.
