SHARE plans Ladies Night Out for Sept. 25

Looking for a chance to get out on the town, ladies?

Fresh off the success of the second annual Downtown SALEabration, the Sweet Home Active Revitalization Effort Program and Marketing Committee has come up with a new event to boost downtown business: Stepping Into Fall Shopping Extravaganza and Ladies Night Out, on Saturday, Sept. 25.

Nancy Patton, Program and Marketing Committee chair, said last week that downtown merchants who participated in the SALEabration, a day-long community rummage sale followed by an evening street dance on Aug. 14, in general reported noticeable increases in foot traffic during the event. She said that prompted the committee to think about doing something else.

“Now that fall is right around the corner, the Program and Marketing Committee realized that there are two major things ladies like to do €“ dressing up and shopping,” Patton said. “The main purpose is to bring business downtown, shop locally and allow the Sweet Home ladies to have a special night out.”

The event will begin at 2 p.m. and run through 9 p.m.

Participating businesses will display a hot pink Stepping Into Fall poster in their windows to encourage participating shoppers to stop in. Guests will also complete a hot pink punch card and are encouraged to enter a Savvy Dresser contest.

“Ladies are encouraged to dress up, get out their cute black dress and high heels, hats and gloves and dress to the hilt,” Patton said.

At 6:15 p.m., the event will move to the Point Restaurant for food and drinks.

Patton said The Point was chosen because it is a “good, classy” location for the Savvy Dresser Contest and has a big parking lot suitable for holding a dance. Owner Michael Hall “likes to be included in community events too,” she added.

She said that another prospective location, All-Star Pizza, wasn’t available due to use by fall youth sports teams.

Participants who have completed their punch cards will be eligible for drawings of gifts donated by local businesses. The winner of the Savvy Dresser contest will be announced as well as the winner of the Grand Prize, who will receive a trip to the Oregon coast, courtesy of KFIR Radio and Shiloh Inn.

Following the drawings, the ladies will dance to the music of local band Root Rhythms, until 9 p.m.

“This event encourages active participation,” Patton said.
