Sharing Christmas

Sweet Home Junior High School Achievement Award students gather with teacher Sarah Lynn around an engine in the Fire Hall where they took presents they purhased for the Sweet Home Fire and Ambulance District Sharing Tree. “This is just one example of individuals or groups from our wonderful town, Sweet Home, who unselfishly gave to give local children a special Christmas,” said Diane Shank, administrative assistant. “We appreciate everyone who donated.” The Sharing Tree serves children up the age of 11. It serves approximately 250 needy families and 500 children. The deadline for taking names from the tree and purchasing gifts has passed, but the Volunteer Firefighters Association continues to accept donations to help buy gifts for unclaimed names left on the tree. The tree had about 130 names left on it at the deadline. The last of the gifts were purchased last week, and families are picking up gifts for their children this week at the Fire Hall. To donate or for further information, call the Sweet Home Fire and Ambulance District at (541) 367-5882.
