Sharon D. Lane, 67, died Oct. 29, 2011 after a short battle with pancreatic cancer.
She was born Aug. 22, 1944 in Eugene to Everett and Frances (Bryan) Parrish.
She grew up in Terrebonne and Springfield, graduated from Newport High School and then attended University of Oregon until she married in 1963. After her marriage she lived in Marcola, moving to Sweet Home in 1972 until her passing.
Mrs. Lane was an active member of Highway 20 Church of Christ, and a member of P.E.O. She worked for many years with the Sweet Home School District.
She was very active in family genealogy and discovered that three branches of her family came to Oregon on the Oregon Trail. She loved collecting antiques and going to garage sales.
Mrs. Lane enjoyed gardening and growing flowers and vegetables. She was a Certified Master Gardener. She had several hobbies: painting landscapes, reading history and non-fiction, decorating and arranging flowers and traveling in the motor home with her husband Ken to a number of U.S. states.
She loved spending time with her grandchildren, going to their sporting events and activities, and cooking for her friends and family.
Mrs. Lane is survived by her husband, Ken Lane of Sweet Home; daughter Leslie and son-in-law John Bradner of Albany, son Russell Lane of Lyons, and daughter Stephanie and son-in-law Chris Meldrum of Portland; brother Randy Parrish of Redmond; and eight grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father, Everett Parrish; mother Frances Bryan Parrish; and brother Scott Parrish.
A memorial service is planned for 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 5, at Highway Church of Christ in Sweet Home.
Memorial contributions can be made in her memory to Highway 20 Church of Christ for a Healing Garden.
