SHEDG changes Jamboree structure

The Sweet Home Economic Development Group has restructured the management for the Oregon Jamboree.

SHEDG announced Monday that it had hired Tom Albert as interim festival director. Peter LaPonte, who has been the festival director for 12 years, is moving into a festival adviser role on the Jamboree staff.

Albert, who serves on the SHEDG Board of Directors, has taken a leave of absence from his board position to serve as interim festival director.

LaPonte’s new position is not supervisory, said SHEDG Board President Kevin Strong. “Instead, he’ll be more involved in planning and advising on festival aspects.

“The staff changes help strengthen the Oregon Jamboree and provide additional festival expertise. This is something we have Peter’s support on, and we believe it strengthens the organization.”

Albert has been involved with the Oregon Jamboree since 1994, Strong said. He has served as a key member of the Jamboree’s management team and has been involved in multiple aspects of festival operations.

Albert will remain the interim director at least through this year’s Jamboree, Strong said.

Additionally, the Jamboree has hired Erin Regrutto as the organization’s events manager, a new position. Regrutto most recently served as director of marketing and special events for the Historic Arkansas Riverwalk in Pueblo, Colo. She is scheduled to begin working on April 30.

“During the past decade, the Oregon Jamboree has grown into the premier country music and camping festival in the Pacific Northwest,” Strong said. “With the staff we have in place, along with the commitment and dedication of our volunteers, our goal is to make the Jamboree even more enjoyable for the thousands of fans who come to Sweet Home each year.”

The Jamboree is scheduled for July 30 through Aug. 1. Performers include Keith Urban, Miranda Lambert, Blake Shelton, Neal McCoy, Travis Tritt, Julianne Hough and the Oakridge Boys.

The Jamboree is produced by the nonprofit SHEDG.
