SHEDG needs to answer questions

Editor:

Diane Gerson’s letter of Oct 3 brings up several of the concerns I have about the organization and budgeting of the Jamboree.

As a non-profit organization, I believe full disclosure is required by law and that meetings and reports should be made available to the community. Particulars on sponsors, gate receipts, and donations as well as how the money is spent is of concern. A 10-year-old study is not adequate to answer questions from 2002 to 2012.

It was my understanding that the Jamboree is to help support the growth and development of Sweet Home. Why the new vendor fees? Who benefits – do the profits go toward projects in Sweet Home?

An additional concern I have is the volunteers. If the Jamboree intends to run a second event it seems to me that many of the same volunteers would be called upon for help. Is it reasonable to expect them to help for two events running back to back? I agree that a second event would be worthwhile for the community but maybe in May or June.

As the Jamboree faces a new stage of development, Sweet Home residents need to be informed and invited to participate in the process.
