SHEDG seeks public’s input on property

The Sweet Home Economic Development Group will host a public meeting Thursday, June 23, to discuss possible uses of the former Knife River property, which Linn County is in the process of donating to SHEDG.

“We encourage anybody to come,” said Wendi Melcher, property committee chairwoman for SHEDG. “We’re just going to talk about the ideas that we have for the property and open it up to the community for their ideas.”

SHEDG members are considering camping and walking trails as ways to use the property, Melcher said.

“We’re looking at probably an eight- to 10-year time frame,” Melcher said.

Melcher said anyone who is unable to attend the meeting but would like to comment or ask a question, may contact her at [email protected] or 541-409-4813. They also will set up a new Facebook page soon, she added.

The meeting is scheduled from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, June 23 at Sunshine Industries, 1333 Clark Mill Road in Sweet Home.
