I sit back and reflect on what my community means to me and so much comes to mind.
I see changes and I see things that I might not agree with. So what do we do to make a difference? Most of us just complain, or we tell others how it needs to be or we even just sit back and do nothing.
Well, it’s time to make a change and its time to make your voice heard. I have taken my own advice and joined the Sweet Home Economic Development Group (SHEDG) board. This gives me a chance to make a difference.
This community we live in is thriving and, most of all, it’s a great community built on pride. We all need to take the time to see how we can make a difference and maybe be the proactive ones who make it happen.
The SHEDG group is asking what makes you want to be involved in your community. What benefit does SHEDG provide? Their mission statement is “To effectively lead efforts to enhance and promote thriving, diverse economic development in the Sweet Home Community.” This is what this town is all about.
So as a new member of the board I am asking you, the community members, to see the value that SHEDG provides for our community and come be a part of the building process and development to make our community better. A mere $10 per year makes it possible for your voice to be heard and maybe even make a difference. The value is that you want to make a difference.
I believe we need to be proactive if we want to see our community grow. We need more people with vision to be a part of this great group. So if you are interested and want to hear more about how SHEDG can make a difference come to a meeting or stop by the office and pick up an application.
Or better yet, if you want us to come to you we will do that also. We stand by what our mission is and that’s making Sweet Home thrive. Let’s enhance and promote a better community.
