Shelter offers dog training

SafeHaven Humane Society will offer two dog training courses, puppy socialization and obedience level 1, beginning Monday, Nov. 14.

The puppy socialization class runs from 6 to 7 p.m., and the obedience level 1 class runs from 7 to 8 p.m.

Puppy socialization is a series of three classes that focus on how to incorporate a puppy into a household, crate training, housebreaking, biting and leash walking. Puppies between the ages of 2 and 4 months are welcome in the class, which costs $35.

Obedience level 1 is a series of six sessions designed to teach dogs basic obedience skills such as sit, down, stay, loose leash walking, calm greeting and wait. Cost is $75 or $65 for any animal adopted from SafeHaven Humane Society.

Classes will be held at the site of the future home of SafeHaven Humane Society at 32220 Old Hwy 34 in the Tangent Business Park.
