State Rep. Sherrie Sprenger (R-Scio) has been appointed by House Republican Leader Mike McLane to serve as an assistant leader to the House Republican Caucus.
Sprenger will rejoin the House Republican leadership team after previously serving as the caucus whip from 2014-16.
“I am honored to once again serve as a member of the House Republican leadership team,” said Rep. Sprenger, who has served as a member of the Legislature since 2008.
“I look forward to working with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to foster a culture of cooperation and promote a more thoughtful and pragmatic approach to the legislative process.”
In addition to serving as an Assistant Republican Leader, Rep. Sprenger is a member of the House Judiciary Committee, House Education Committee, House Committee on Conduct and the Joint Committee on Legislative Policy and Research. She is also the vice-chair of the House Agriculture and Natural Resources Committee.
House District 17 includes the communities of Sweet Home, Lebanon, Waterloo, Detroit, Gates, Idanha, Lyons, Mill City, Scio, Stayton and Sublimity.
The 2018 legislative session begins Feb. 5.
Sprenger, who was appointed to represent the district in 2008 after the resignation of Jeff Kropf, has registered to run for a seventh term in next year’s election.
