Santiam Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution presented its “Good Citizen” awards on Feb. 22 at a tea held at the First United Methodist Church in Lebanon.
The three honorees were Julia Donner from East Linn Christian Academy, Madelynn Norris from Lebanon High School, and Wesley Parker from Sweet Home High School.
The awards are presented annually to outstanding high school seniors demonstrating the qualities of dependability, service, leadership and patriotism.
The awards ceremony was organized by Marilyn York of Lebanon, who has been doing it for the past 25 years.
Having been chosen by his/her respective school, each student submits personal information pertaining to his/her service to the community, school or church and completes an essay of not more than 500 words.
Donner received the first-place chapter award; Norris was second and Parker third.
As a part of the program, representatives from the American Legion, under the leadership of Larry Williams presented an informative presentation on folding and etiquette for the American flag.
