Even without their biggest guns, Sweet Home’s had a good day Thursday, Jan. 11, defeating Philomath on both the boys and girls sides.
The meet was supposed to include Sisters, but the Outlaws could not make it, Coach Doug Peargin said.
“This turned out to be a dual meet, the first we’ve had in several weeks, and it went really well. Every swimmer on our team placed in at least one event for us.”
Sweet Home was missing its club swimmers, who were at a meet in Washington, but they got wins from Ella Parker in the 200 Freestyle, Isabel Rodriguez in the 100 Backstroke, and Moira Curtis in the 50 and 100 Freestyle events.
On the boys side, Stewart Curtis was the winner in the 50 and 100 Freestyles, Cameron Taber won the 200 Freestyle and Bradley Wolthuis won the 200 Individual Medley. The boys also won the 200 Medley and the 200 Freestyle relay events.
The Huskies also had eight girls and 10 boys post personal bests in at least one event.
“With this many PR’s this early in the season, I’m anxious to see what we will do at Albany on Saturday,” Peargin said.
Sweet Home starts to zero in on the district meet with the Albany Sprint Invitational Saturday at South Albany High School. All the teams in the district are expected to be there for the event, which starts at 8 a.m.
