SHPD serves warrant, arrests one

Sweet Home Police arrested one man in connection to a search warrant it served on Friday.

Michael Joseph Perez, 24, was arrested for distribution of methamphetamine, possession of methamphetamine, felon in possession of restricted weapon, felon in possession of a firearm and child neglect.

At approximately 7 a.m., SHPD, with assistance from the Linn County Sheriff’s Office and a US Forest Service K9 Officer, served a narcotics-related search warrant at 40370 Holley Heights Loop, said Police Jeff Lynn.

When officers arrived, they located two adults and one juvenile on the property.

During the investigation, detectives seized methamphetamine, scales, a firearm, restricted weapons, cash and drug paraphernalia, Lynn said.

A narcotics investigation was opened by the Sweet Home Police Department due to reported drug sales by Perez, Lynn said.

Michael Perez has a previous conviction for the delivery of methamphetamine and is currently on supervision through Linn County Parole and Probation, Lynn said.

Perez’s elderly mother was present during the search warrant service, Lynn said, but she was not involved in the criminal activity and was not arrested.

The juvenile located at the residence remained in the care of the grandmother.

Anyone with information related to the incident is asked to call Det. Cyndi Pichardo at the Sweet Home Police Department (541) 367-5181.
