Capping off a night at the annual Christmas parade, the Singing Christmas Tree performed its second show of the season Saturday.
A contingent of Christmas Tree singers performed a special, funny version of “Oh, Christmas Tree” during the lighting ceremony.
“It’s going well,” organizer Sue Olson said. “We have this group singing. They’re going to lead us into the intermission with Mr. and. Mrs. Santa Claus (during the Saturday show).”
The Singing Christmas Tree, in its 21st year, had a group sing at the Christmas Tree lighting about 10 years, and Olson was happy to see that event played up with this year’s parade.
“I think it’s wonderful,” she said. “I’m waiting for the tree to be lit.”
The Singing Christmas Tree had 36 singers this year, with about 15 persons working behind the scenes.
Director Paul Rowton “has led us into some really good places,” Olson said, and Ken Johnston has been key behind the scenes in setting up the tree structure and being a jack of all trades.
The Singing Christmas Tree recorded its performance this year, Olson said, and its members hope to sell it on CD locally for the first time this year. Next year, they may try to market it to a wider audience.
Mark Mathieson of Sweet Home recorded the group.
