Sisters steadily built a lead Friday night to defeat the Huskies 51-38 in Sweet Home in boys basketball.
The Outlaws led 14-8 after a quarter and 23-15 at halftime. The Huskies trailed 39-26 at the end of the third quarter.
“We just didn’t make shots,” said Coach Drew Emmert. “We got decent looks, but we couldn’t hit the hole. We played hard.”
The Huskies played good defense, he said.
“(Justin) Tow’s playing tough for us,” Emmert said. “He has been all season.”
Daniel Virtue and Tyler Plebuch are doing well, he said. Although Plebuch isn’t scoring, he is contributing in categories across the board.
The Huskies have had problems with sick players, he said. Plebuch was out on Monday. Logan Kline, Keanu Aiona and Jake Bangot missed practices last week.
But other teams have those problems too, Emmert said. “We just need to find ways to win these games.”
Aiona led the Huskies against Sisters with 12 points.
The Huskies are 0-2 in league and 1-13 overall and are last in league. Sisters and Elmira are tied at fourth with 1-2 records. Junction City and Sutherlin are tied at second with 2-1 records. Cottage Grove leads the Sky-Em with a 3-0 record. Junction City and Cottage Grove are ranked fifth and seventh in the state respectively.

Sweet Home had the edge in the first quarter, leading 13-12. Sutherlin led 27-25 at halftime and 37-34 after three quarters.
“Both (Sisters and Sutherlin) are beatable,” Emmert siad. “We played good but we didn’t play good enough to win.”
The game was close most of the way, he said, and his team was down just three points going into the fourth quarter.
Bangot led scoring for the Huskies with 16 points. Virtue added 15.
