Travis Smith hit a seventh-inning three-run homerun March 30 at home to carry the Huskies past defense problems to a 7-6 win.
“This was really an exciting victory,” Coach Dan Tow said. “Travis Smith came through?. We made some mistakes, and it wasn’t pretty. In the end, we pulled it out. In the last inning, with one out, Mark Lewis reached on an error, Lance Carter singled and Travis hit the game-winning homerun.
“We weren’t too sharp defensively tonight. We had a number of errors that gave them some unearned runs. We did get a big double play to get out of a jam in the fifth.”
Lance Carter, 1-1, was the winning pitcher. Kyle Pettit started for the Huskies.
Fitter was losing pitcher.
Hitting, Smith went 3-4 with a double and a three-run homerun. Kyle Pettit went 3-3 with a double and two RBIs. Matt Morneault went 2-2 with two RBIs.
At bats for Sisters, Burke went 3-4 with a double.

Cascade 2
The Huskies picked up a second win, 4-2, the following day at Cascade.
“Brandon Martin (1-1) was tough on the mound giving up only two hits in five innings, and Lance Carter threw two excellent innings of relief,” Coach Tow said. “Brandon helped himself by hitting well tonight, and Matt Morneault did a nice job getting two hits and driving in a run.
“This was a tight game all the way, and we really played a good game, I thought.
“Lance Carter had a nice game defensively at shortstop, and Travis Smith continues to catch very well for us. Our infield was very good all around the diamond tonight.”
Martin and Morneault went 2-3 to lead Husky hitting. Martin hit a double, knocking in two RBIs. Morneault had one RBI.
