Sweet Home High School sweehearts Fred and Edi (Stanton) Smith celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on Saturday,
Sept. 5, at their home in Brownsville. The celebration included all of their children and spouses, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and many friends. The Smiths were married Sept. 3, 1959 in a candlelight ceremony at Crawfordsville Church.
They raised five boys: Freddie, Dan, Scott, Skip and Chucky; and three daughters: Sally Wilson (deceased), Susie Hays and Edi-Sue Smith, who married a Smith. Edi worked 24 years as a dental assistant and helped Fred with their sand and gravel business before they retired.
