The Sweet Home High School cross country fielded only a single complete team, boys junior varsity, Thursday at Thurston in Springfield.
With a number of runners facing a large event for the first time, that team finished way back, Coach Wayne Spinney said. There were a lot of people on the team who had never run in a big race before.
“Probably the highlight of the meet was Megan Snow,” Coach Spinney said.
Snow finished 16th on the junior varsity and improved her PR by 30 seconds in the first meet of the season.
On the boys varsity, John Lovik opened the season two seconds faster than he ended it at state last year. He placed 14th.
Both Snow and Lovik were the top 3A runners in their divisions.
The Huskies did not run any varsity girls.
